Live at the Rickshaw

VANCOUVER – On Friday I reunited with Bealby Point to document their headline performance at the legendary Rickshaw Theatre. The pride of Deep Cove took the stage just after 11 p.m. and ripped through 10 songs (including their soon-to-be-released single “America”) before the house lights came up. And still the audience wanted more. They screamed for an encore. Beably obliged.
Backstage we exchanged some quick hugs before going our separate ways. The band had to load out and my bed was calling me. I followed the crowd into the lobby with its giant dusty disco ball and out onto the street. It was after midnight and concertgoers lingered on East Hastings, checking text messages and booking Ubers to other parties.
It was a dry but cloudy evening and there was no moon in sight.
I hopped in an Evo and drove south past Terminal. Two rolls of film and a memory card full of video burning a hole in my L.L. Bean Boat and Tote.
